- What is the Indian Removal Act?

The Indian Removal Act was signed into law by President Andrew Jackson on May 28, 1830, authorizing the president to grant unsettled lands west of the Mississippi in exchange for Indian lands within existing state borders. A few tribes went peacefully, but many resisted the relocation policy.

 

- Do you think treaties between Native Americans and the American government were profitable for both sides?    

no, I think  treaties between Native Americans and the American government were more profitable for the American government.

 

- Explain the title "Trail of tears".

A lot of native americans worked on a trail, but because the work was so hard a lot of them died. That's why it's called "Trail of tears".

 

- Find a map and pictures which show where the Indians originally lived and where they were moved to as a result of treaties.
