assignment 2 - Where did Hitler get his ideas on genocide from? Who inspired Hitler? Maud: I think Hitler got his ideas on genocide from the American genocide, were the European killed the native Americans. Linda: I agree, but he could also be inspired by Luther. Luther is known for his reform of the church. You might not know that he is also know for anti-Jewish statements - What is genocide according to you? Maud: According to me genocide is killing a particular group of people to get rid of them. Linda: To me genocide means killing a large group of people, especially those of a particular ethnic group or nation. AUDIO

Assignment 8 - What is the Indian Removal Act? The Indian Removal Act was signed into law by President Andrew Jackson on May 28, 1830, authorizing the president to grant unsettled lands west of the Mississippi in exchange for Indian lands within existing state borders. A few tribes went peacefully, but many resisted the relocation policy.   - Do you think treaties between Native Americans and the American government were profitable for both sides?     no, I think  treaties between Native Americans and the American government were more profitable for the American government.   - Explain the title "Trail of tears". A lot of native americans worked on a trail, but because the work was so hard a lot of them died. That's why it's called "Trail of tears".   - Find a map and pictures which show where the Indians originally lived and where they were moved to as a result of treaties.

The Canary Effect - Why is this documentary called "The Canary Effect"? Maud:  Like the miners canary, the Indian marks the shift from fresh air to poison gas in our political atmosphere. Linda: And our treatment of the Indians even more than our treatment of other minorities, reflects the rise and fall of our democratic faith. - Why is it ridiculous to say that Columbus discovered America? Linda: There were already people living there. Maud: Columbus claimed the land of the Indians. - What have you learnt from watching this film? Maud: I've learned that Columbus didn't discover America, and that they treated the native Americans bad. Linda: I've learned how native Americans were treated by the people of Europe.

assignment 1 - What is ISIS? Maud: ISIS is a group of terrorists. Linda: They kill a lot of innocent people and conquer land. - Why is ISIS doing this? Linda: ISIS beliefs in the islam. Maud: Because they believe in the islam they think it's good to kill people that don't believe in their religion. Maud: ISIS also wants to conquer as much countries as possible. - How do they want to achieve this? Maud: They want to achieve this by killing innocent people, and manipulating people to help them. Linda: They are killing a lot of people.  AUDIO
